Education Department

The Education services in the district serves multiple vital functions in society by imparting knowledge, fostering critical thinking, and shaping responsible citizens. It integrates individuals into the broader culture through socialization, promotes social control by teaching norms and values, and drives economic progress by preparing people for the workforce. Education also facilitates personal development, enables social mobility, and ensures the transmission of knowledge and culture across generations.

The Education primarily assists in the formulation and implementation of policies on education in the Assembly within the framework of national policies and guidelines.

It also has an advisory role in the Assembly on matters relating to pre-school, primary, Junior and Senior High Schools in the District and other matters that may be referred to it by the Assembly.

The department also encourages and reports on implementation of policies and matters relating to basic education in accordance with report format provided by the minister.
