WELFARE OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITY WILL CONTINUE TO BE MY PRIORITY, DCE ASSURES PWDS.
The District Chief Executive for Ahafo Ano South East, hon. Nelson Yamba Issaka Ibrahim has assured the persons with disability in the district that, under the leadership of his exllency John Dramani Mahama, the NDC government remains committed to protecting the vulnerable and ensuring that no Ghanaian is left behind.
He made this statement when he was delivering his speech during the disbursement support items to persons with disability ( PWDS ) in the Ahafo Ano South East district held on 29th December 2025. He said, the occasion reflects the strong social democratic values of the National Democratic Congress ( NDC ) government which believes that true development must be inclusive and people -centered, he emphasize that, the NDC government remains committed to protecting the vulnerable and ensuring that no Ghanaian is left behind.
It is worth emphasing that, under the leadership of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the statutory allocation of district assemblies common fund ( DACF ) for persons with disabilities has been increased from the initial 3% to 5%, he said.
He noted that, this significant policy decision demonstrates the government’s resolve to improve the welfare, empowerment and economic independence of PWDs across the country.
Items disbursed includes:
Educational support to 20 beneficiaries, to promote access to education and skills development.
23 deep freezers to support income-generating activities and small businesses.
Cash support to 60 beneficiaries, to assist with livelihoods and basic economic needs.
5 health support 3 sewing machines 1 fufu pounding machine 1 milling machine 1 shoe making machine.
A total of one hundred and fourteen (114) support is a clear manifestation of the NDC’s commitment to social justice, and equity and inclusive governance, he said.
Mr Yamba emphatically made it known to the people that, these items are meant to empower beneficiaries to become economically active and self – reliant contributions to the local economy.
He therefore urge all beneficiaries to use the items and funds responsibilly for the purposes intended, so that the impact can be sustained and extended to others in the future.
He commended the social welfare department and all stakeholders for their dedication and transparency in the selection process.
In concluding his speech, he assured that the NDC government through the district assembly will continue to prioritize the welfare of persons with disability ( PWDS ) as part of a broader development agenda.
